Yorkshire Section Dinner & Dance
Inauguration of the Centenary Year celebrations
article posted 10 Dec 2015
This was a splendid event in the long tradition of Yorkshire Section Dinner Dances
and was a fitting inauguration for the Society of Glass Technology's Centenary Celebration.
The venue as always looked most impressive in readiness for the guests to arrive.
The room was soon filled to capacity as more than 150 diners took their places. Under
the benign influence of festive fare and some rather good wine, conviviality flourished
and with it the good-humoured banter which marks such occasions.
After the Members and their Guests had enjoyed an excellent meal, the staff served
tea and coffee and then the well-managed formalities began. Yorkshire Section has
a reputation for providing good after-dinner entertainment, and this event was no exception
to that rule. One of the highlights of this excellent evening was the presentation of
the Yorkshire Section Award 2015: Society President Professor Russell Hand is seen
here making the presentation to Mr Dave Armitage from Beatson Clark.
At the end of the evening all those present agreed that this had been a most
enjoyable occasion - and some even expressed their sympathy for anyone who had missed it!
